Our Laketown Chocolates factory outlet retail store is located in the heart of downtown Waconia, Minnesota, about 35 miles southwest of Minneapolis. Waconia is quickly becoming a destination for tourists as well as those willing to leave the city limits of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Waconia offers a wide array of things to do including orchards, wineries, breweries, restaurants, parks, bike trails, coffee shops, great shopping, and so much more. It is home to the second largest lake in the Twin Cities metro area, Lake Waconia which provides amazing fishing and recreational activities for visitors. Our second location is located in downtown Excelsior. Much like Waconia where our flagship store resides, Excelsior is a small community that sits right along the (almost) famous Lake Minnetonka. The downtown features a wide array of boutique shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and bars and is always buzzing with people. They play host to a number of great events throughout the year including Apple Days, Art on the Lake, Crazy Days, Concerts in the Park, Girls Nights Out, Minnetonka School’s Homecoming celebration and parade and much much more.

Amongst many things Excelsior is known for, it is probably best known for the charter boats that call Excelsior home and give tours of Lake Minnetonka. This historic town has seen a lot in its days, including the Rolling Stones playing there in 1964. Local lore claims that the song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” was inspired by a conversation that Mick Jagger had with the local legend, Jimmy (“Mr. Jimmy”) during an encounter at the local drug store.
